Bathtub Refinishing
The most common reasons to refinish a bathtub are: outdated colors (yellow, pink, green), damage, rust and a dull finish. These are all remedied in just a few hours with our refinishing process. After refinishing, you have a tub with a smooth glossy finish that will stay looking great for years and is easy to maintain. Typically we can fix: • Outdated colors • Chips • Cracks • Pits • Rust • Scratches • Dull finish.

Tile Refinishing
Tile refinishing is the easiest way to move from a grungy wall to a newer looking one! Using special fillers, we repair cracks and holes. Then we fill any missing grout with material designed specifically for the refinishing process. Finally we prep the surface and apply the topcoat. The complete process yields a moisture proof barrier for years of mold-free use. We typically can fix: • Outdated colors • Chips • Cracks • Scratches • Broken Tiles • Missing Grout Lines • Dull Finish (Additional charges may apply for grout and patch work).

Slip-Resistant Bottom
More than 160,000 falls occur in the bathroom each year. We can install our Slip-Resistant Bottom surface with any bathtub refinishing job at a substantial discount.

Bath Wall Liners
If the walls behind your tile are heavily damaged we can install an acrylic wall liner. Wall Liners are custom-fitted pieces of acrylic that are mounted over your wall. Acrylic is tough and will not chip or crack. However, we do not install Bathtub liners. Many times, the seal around the Bathtub liner fails and allows water to get in between the Bathtub liner and tub. Once this occurs mold starts to grow and the liner can have a "squishy" feel to it, due to water being trapped underneath. Bathtub Liners are considerably more costly than refinishing, as much as eight times more. Most liner companies will not warranty a Bathtub liner unless they install their wall liner as well. This combination can cost as much as $5,000 dollars. Refinishing is more economical.

Strip Job
We strip a lot of Do-It-Yourself jobs. If your bathtub was refinished before, and it is peeling, your old coating will have to be stripped off prior to our process. There is an additional charge to remove the old coating.

Fiberglass Bathtub / Shower Repair
Bathtub and shower bottoms can be permanently restored with our inlay systems. Our system provides strength and wear that is superior to the original, at only a fraction of the cost of replacement. The inlay is a revolutionary new material that will never crack, wear out or delaminate from the surface. It will strengthen the original bathtub or shower to withstand the toughest environment and heaviest weights. Our inlays carry a Lifetime guarantee against cracking and delaminating from your existing bathtub or shower.

The Safeway Step
Convert your bathtub into a walk-in shower. A safer entry into your bathtub/shower area has never been easier. The Bath Doctor offers one of the most accessible bathroom renovations to date. We make access into the tub area easier than you could ever imagine, and yet it's affordable at the same time. The Safeway Step is installed using the present tub, whether it's made of fiberglass, steel or even cast iron. The Safeway Step aids the senior and the caregiver by removing their biggest barrier in the tub area. On most tubs, the accessible entry is only about four or five inches high, providing easier access for the elderly or disabled. Water drains properly, and the existing shower curtain can still be used because the step-up is about two inches (2") above the inside tub-floor. Installation takes less than one full day.

Encapsulating Hazardous Lead Leaching From Bathtubs
Another reason for reglazing your old bathtub is because High concentrations of LEAD are being released from the old and worn finishes of many bathtubs. Studies of 750 bathtubs conducted and shown on Good Morning America (April 19, 1995) have shown that close to 80% of cast iron bathtubs commonly used today are leaching LEAD into the bathwater. The Center for Disease Control, and other health professionals warn that repeated exposure to high concentrations of lead can be hazardous to the health of your family; particularly children. ----------------------Protection Against LEAD Exposure--------------------- Bath Doctor utilizes a reglazing process that efficiently encapsulates the old finish of your bathtub. This encapsulation stops LEAD from seeping out of these finishes and makes your tub safe again for your family!

Kitchen Countertop Refinishing
The kitchen is the gathering place for today's busy families. Kitchen countertops have a big impact on the overall appearance and value of your home. The foundation of most countertops is fine; it's just minor surface problems (stains, burns and knife cuts) that makes them look tired and worn. Sometimes the color is dated, really dragging down the room. These problems just "go away" with our refinishing process. Problem areas are fixed and a completely new, easy to clean, low maintenance, semi-gloss topcoat is applied. The result is a brand-new looking kitchen with attractive, durable counters. Ask about our new "faux" granite topcoat, available in a myriad of popular colors.

Buffing and Polishing - Refinishing Bathtubs
Buffing and Polishing your refinished Bathtub is not necessary. We will provide this service if requested since some other companies may offer it. However, our refinishing service is so shiny that it won't be necessary. We are Connecticut's Premiere Bathtub Refinishing Company.

Bathtub Refinishing Article
Is your bathroom old, f i x t u res faded or stained, hues of turquoises and pinks that harken back to a time when Charlie’s Angels and Miami Vice were first-runs, not reruns? So the option that comes immediately to mind, of course, is a bathroom remodeling during which everything will be gutted, plumbers and carpenters and tradespeople will be in your home for days if not weeks, and you’ll be living without your bathroom the entire time. The next thing to come to mind, naturally, is $$$$. And rest assured, it will be expensive, the renovation option. Next, you might consider a bathtub acrylic liner that fits snugly over the tub. There are several reasons for reconsidering this option. First, acrylic liners cover up underlying problems instead of fixing them. The moisture in bathrooms can create mold and even eat away at structural elements that need to be addressed, not covered. Second, there is the possibility of water getting trapped between the liner and tub, again with the damaging potential for creating sealed-in mold and mild ew. Next, acrylic liner installations are, again, expensive. And finally, because you are adding a layer of material to your tub, its area logically will become smaller. So what other alternatives are out there for you to have a ‘new’ bathroom? I found a far more reasonable, less expensive, and ve ry satisfying option to be reglazing or refininishing of tub, sink, counter, and tile. And the reglazing materials bond and adhere to extensive surfaces: cast iron, porcelain, and fiberglass tubs and shower enclosures, and ceramic tile walls and floors. Investigating this reglazing alternative for myself—and selecting it with wonderful results.

First Aid for Your Bathtub
So you've got a yucky bathtub? Visit Lowe's or The Home Depot and you note that a new bathtub is fairly inexpensive--less than $200. How hard can it be to put in a new tub? But add in the cost of a contractor, demolition, removal, landfill fees, tilers, and a plumber, and...well, the total cost of the job has ballooned. One option is to install an acrylic liner. But that's expensive, and it only covers up your bathroom problems. Compared to all that, refinishing your tub looks pretty good. Refinishing Your Bathtub Bathtub Refinishing is not a do-it-yourself project. You are better off hiring a professional. Porcelain, fiberglass, and cast-iron tubs can all be refinished. The tub does not need to be removed and taken to a shop. It can be done on-site and with a minimum of mess. The tub is primed, sealed, and painted with a highly durable, glossy top-coat of any color you choose. It is not a duplication of the tub's original dip-coat. The tub was originally dip-coated at the factory (But if you don't care about costs, it is possible to send the tub out for dip-coating). What makes this such a valuable service, though, is the fact that it really does work. And when it's done, it looks nothing short of magnificent.

Do it yourself?
Doing It Yourself? Do-it-yourself bathtub refinishing is possible. (However, please keep our phone number handy. We have stripped and redone plenty of the DIY jobs.) You employ essentially the same materials as the professionals, but you don't use the spray-gun. Instead, you use a brush or small roller. They are usually brush-on kits. They offer a quart of epoxy with hardener, latex gloves, steel wool, brush, cleaning solution, cleaner/thinner, and safety goggles. It comes in white but can be tinted (tint not included, but it will usually yellow within a month anyway). It's less expensive than other methods, but I still do not consider it a cheap alternative. Also, I'm a bit wary of brushing or rolling on bathtub paint. There's simply no way you can get a nice, smooth glossy coat with a roller or brush.
